[ OKAY, SO WHAT'S A NEWTYPE? ]
The Basic Newtype Theory: As humanity expands into space, all latent abilities will blossom in order to adapt to the great void and mankind will then be able to understand each other without misconceptions.

[ BUT WHAT DOES THAT REALLY MEAN? ]
Essentially, a Newtype is the next stage of human evolution as it relates to living in space. His spacial awareness is so acute as to act as a sixth sense, so Banagher exhibits vaguely "psychic" qualities — mostly something like precognitive empathy. This means that Banagher is sensitive not necessarily to the actions of others, but to the intent behind said actions, especially as they pertain to him. For example, think something hard enough at him, and he'll probably be able to sense it. Think, "Hey I'm going to go punch that kid's face in!" and he'll probably be able to sense it in enough time to try and prevent it. Think, "Hey I'm going to punch this other guy's face in!" and he likes Other Guy, he can try to help them avoid it, or submit his own face for punching, etc., etc. (Heavy emphasis on "try".) So on and so forth. This is a mostly useless skill outside of his Gundam, but important for other like-minded characters, or those who don't take kindly to relentless do-gooders getting a potential read on their emotions.

[ NO BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR ME? ]
If you'd like CR with Banagher, it'd help me out to know how to approach your characters with his powers! Newtypes carry a pretty big stigma in his canon, so he's a bit dodgy about it and likely won't speak up about his ability unless confronted or asked by someone he trusts. On the other side of the coin, Banagher is pretty forthright, and attempts to make any judgment on someone on his own merit, outside of the things he senses. So morally grays and villains and people with generally dark brains don't need to worry about him pulling the LOOK AT HOW EVIL SO-AND-SO IS stunt. It is a latent ability, so it's sort of always passively running — however, I'm always more concerned with the comfort of who I'm playing with, and can definitely run a workaround for it if you'd rather not have him notice anything at all, or only bits and pieces.

CHARACTER | name, [personal profile] journal
CANON | canon
CAN HE SENSE THINGS FROM YOUR CHARACTER | Be as sparse or detailed as you'd like, for either yes or no answers! For nos, you can mention if a character has psychic blocking or if you'd rather find a workaround. For the yeses out there, feel free to specify if you'd rather us hash something out oocly first or if you're alright with my taking cues from introspective prose or bracket text! Most often, I will err on the side of caution when it comes to picking up on things and go with the bare minimum, unless stated otherwise or if it's handy for cultivating some kind of plot or CR we've talked about. It'd also be helpful to state whether or not Banagher is allowed to outwardly react (whether by voicing or acting on) to the things he senses with your character.
WHAT CAN HE SENSE | Can also be as sparse or detailed as you'd like! From someone's basic "aura" or energy to the more complex things, such as true intent, powers, inner emotions and thoughts and/or things characters may lie about and try to hide from others. If you'd like to gradually develop what he can sense via CR, that's all good with me too! Anything goes. Note: you can also mention limitations on what he can sense from characters who may be putting up fronts.
ANYTHING ELSE | What it says on the tin!

(THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED WHEN HE COMES BACK INTO POSSESSION OF THE UNICORN GUNDAM. BECAUSE THAT'S A DOOZY.)

CHARACTER | Obi-Wan Kenobi, [personal profile] unforced
CANON | Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

CAN HE SENSE THINGS FROM YOUR CHARACTER |
Absolutely! Although it's possible for Obi-Wan to block out people from access to his head/feelings, it's something he has to actively invoke, and honestly he hasn't needed to exercise it very often, so he's wide open in the meantime. As far as extent goes, picking up from brackets is honestly fine by me, although if we'd like to discuss beforehand and/or you're not sure about something, always feel free to throw me a line! I'm also alright with Banagher invoking what he picks up in conversation or reactions to whatever extent you like; how Obi-Wan will react will likely depend on the situation, but I'm open to it all man.

WHAT CAN HE SENSE |
As I've probably already somewhat bracket-nattered about in the past, Obi-Wan is pretty much something of an open window into ~the Force~ 24-7, and this would likely be evident first and foremost. The extent to which Banagher can pick up on this is variable, of course, but it might be possible for him to eventually note that this energy manifests as a sort of lightness that doesn't come from Obi-Wan's person so much as it does through him. This 'light' parses stronger the deeper he's immersed in the Force, typically when he's actively accessing it to inspect his surroundings, aid him in a fight, levitate something or what have you; correspondingly, this light can also grow clouded at times, be it in the vicinity of other dark presences or because of some sort of inner turmoil Obi-Wan might be experiencing.

So yeah, the calmer he is the stronger in the Force he becomes, which is why by default Obi-Wan tends to be a pretty chill guy both outwardly and inwardly. Occasionally to an almost detached extent; Obi-Wan's emotional range is palpably restrained at almost all times. He's as capable of being happy or sad or angry or confused as anybody else, but there's a stringent control here that rarely allows for extremes, be them too negative or too positive. Still, it's hardly completely perfect. Banagher is still free to detect when he's lying or hiding something where applicable (and actually Obi-Wan can sometimes be a lying liar who lies so yeah, it'll probably come up eventually), and a couple of layers down underneath the serene composure and pleasantry Obi-Wan is still actively grieving. HE'S LOST A LOT OF FRIENDS VERY RECENTLY...he's still trying to work through it.....and it may get more obvious when topics stray in that direction, ie friends of the past or his capabilities as a teacher. Talking about Anakin Skywalker will see a large spike in unhappy instability also.

ANYTHING ELSE | AH THIS GOT SO LONG I'M SO SORRY...but yes Jedi-Newtype cr man. As a matter of fact Banagher's abilities are honestly so familiar that Obi-Wan is probably going to get seriously interested in finding out whether he's actually Force-sensitive or not you've got all the hallmarks little man....he might even casually start to nudge him towards some Force training. But who knows how compatible that would be, really...does it for science anyway.....

YEAH BEST CDC MASHUP brofists and chinhands right beside you man. ah it's kind of cute that banagher would get nosy despite himself out of not wanting to be alone though ah...ironically obi-wan had almost resigned himself to being ~almost the only one~ back home so that's actually a really neat dynamic tbh. THEY CAN SLOWLY ACCEPT THEIR NOT-ALONENESS TOGETHER, IF IN DIFFERENT WAYS....

but yeeeeah potential force training man, it might yet be a thing. BE THANKFUL WE'RE NOT ON SOME JUNGLE SWAMP PLANET BANAGHER all the vines you could be climbing over this regimen

actually whatever regimen that ends up happening might turn out involving measures towards shaping up your noodleness too if you've got any. finger-pushups, man. the true wonders of panfandom rp...

and speaking of plurk actually, don't mind me while i casually drift over and add you over here :V if that's cool!
