As far as intentions or emotions go, Eren's pretty forthright and honest in his own right, and he's not terribly hard to read or predict most of the time. He is, however, carrying around a whole lot of trauma and feelings of vengeance and rage that aren't always as apparent on the surface.
As far as powers go, he's not actually precisely garden variety human, in that he turns into a fifteen meter rage monster on occasion by self inflicting an injury. The titan thing he mostly keeps on the downlow unless it comes up for some reason, but it's not a secret by any means. (It's on his CDC file and everything.) There's more of a stigma about it back home, because it's Gross and Mysterious and also a big giant maneating monster of the sort that has been threatening humanity for a century where he's from, so he's aware it's a thing that most sane people will find scary or disturbing, and it's a thing he's still sort of adjusting to/learning to control himself.
